ROTARY HOSTS GSE TEAM FROM INDIA
Five members of the The Rotary Club of Wakefield were pleased to open their homes and families to host five members of the Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange from India for several days in mid-April. The group from northern India visited and was also hosted by many of the Clubs in District 7950 (RI and SE Massachusetts) during their month long stay and will return home at the end of April after the Annual Rotary District Conference in Newport. At the Wakefield meeting on April 19, each GSE team members shared their professional and personal stories as well as some information on their individual communities.
The Rotary’s Group Study Exchange program provides for two teams of 5 individuals, between the ages of 25 and 40, who are in the early stages of their careers to visit each other’s country. The idea is to experience a host country’s culture and institutions as well as observe how their own business and professional vocations are practiced abroad. A Rotarian is selected as Team Leader, although the remaining four team members are generally not Rotary members. The additional intent of the GSE program is to build a better international understanding and fellowship, one of the core principles of Rotary.
Further information on the Rotary’s GSE program is available at www.Rotary.org.
